The Celebration of Eighty-Five Years of Fun It’s a summer long celebration of fun and smiles at the South’s favorite family amusement park, Lake Winnepesaukah! Celebrating 85 years of quality family fun and memories, Lake Winnepesaukah kicks of its 2010 season on Friday, April 9th & Saturday, April 10th and is pulling out all the stops to make its guests feel welcome and enjoy the festivities throughout the season. “This is a landmark year for the Lake Winnepesaukah family,” offered Talley Green. “During our 85th anniversary, Lake Winnepesaukah will continue to give the gift of lasting memories and nonstop family excitement to all who visit us." That gift is something special this season as the park adds two new attractions to their already popular line-up. Adults and teens will be braving the high seas in a whole new way aboard the wild Sea Warrior! Relocated from the famous Kiddieland Amusement Park of Melrose Park, Illinois, this popular thrill ride has found a new home at Lake Winnepesaukah and promises to send riders spinning, dropping, sinking and soaring with excitement! The kiddie area will also welcome the Silly Saucers, an additional treat for younger riders that will have them whirling with wonder. "Lake Winnepesaukah is already home to the last remaining original Boat Chute and Fly-O-Plane in the United States, as well as our beautiful hand-carved 1916 Carrousel,” added Green. “As we celebrate our 85th season, it's a sincere pleasure to welcome the Sea Warrior and Silly Saucers.” Towering over Lake Winnepesaukah’s tree line is the breath-taking OH-Zone!, a 14-story freefall guaranteed to take riders for an exciting descent. “Lake Winnepesaukah is a family park,” stated Talley Green, park representative. Lake Winnepesaukah isn’t only about thrills and spills. Home to the world famous Cannon Ball roller coaster, the park also hosts family rides and attractions. Younger riders will delight on the magical Bumble Bees and the gentle Parachutes. Families can soar on the wind aboard the Wave Swinger or enjoy a leisurely countryside tour with the Antique Cars. There’s even the Wild Lightnin’ steel roller coaster and the beginner coaster fun of the Wacky Worm. For added entertainment, Lake Winnepesaukah has packed its summer with special events the whole family will enjoy. On opening day, Friday, April 9th, the park will welcome The Gym-Masters Acrobatic Team of Southern Adventist University, a tight knit group of young college individuals who perform choreographed routines incorporating circus acrobatics, gymnastics, and cheerleading stunts that capture the audiences' attention. The Gym-Masters have taken their message all over the country, from California to New York, and even out of the country to the Dominican Republic; hoping to impact the world in a positive way. The popular Jukebox Junction Summer Concert series returns to Lake Winnie in 2010 with headliners from some of the best in country music. Fans of Christian music will be able to enjoy three additional free concerts throughout the summer months. As always, the spectacular fireworks displays over the Independence Day holiday are not to be missed. Admission to Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park is only $5.00. An Unlimited Ride Pass is available for only $21.00 and parking is always free! Guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a guest 18 or over and must purchase an all day ride pass or a value strip of 14 tickets for $13.00. Or, they are required to be a member of a chaperoned group. Lake Winnepesaukah Amusement Park has been recognized as one of “America’s Top Ten Family Amusement Parks” by Travel & Leisure Magazine.
