The Spotlight Shines on Four Finalists August 9th was the first of three preliminary competitions in the 2009 Lake Winnie Talent Search. Lake Winnepesaukah’s Jukebox Junction stage showcased several young and talented performers for the Sunday afternoon contest. The 2009 Lake Winnie Talent Search is the chance for guests - under 18 years of age - to take the Jukebox Junction stage and showcase their performing arts talent. The contest consists of three preliminary rounds - with the two remaining on August 16 & 23, at 5:00 p.m. - and a triumphant final round on Sunday, August 30, at 5:00 p.m. The August 9th preliminary winners were a diverse group of talents and ages. Six year-old Raleigh Suits of Chickamauga, Georgia was the youngest finalist. She won over the crowd with her rendition of Taylor Swift’s “Our Song.” Isai Ramos, a thirteen year-old pianist from Dalton, Georgia, received high praise for his performance of his original composition “Beating Heart.” The Shrimp Shack Shooters Band, comprised of four seventeen year-old youths from Signal Mountain, Tennessee, had the audience’s toes-tapping with their lively presentation of the classic “Love Train.” Finally, it was Kelly Pickler’s “I Wonder” performed by Ringgold, Georiga’s fifteen year-old Laura Plaster that took home the remaining finalist spot. “All of the performing arts are welcome,” offered Talley Green of Lake Winnepesaukah. The top acts from the three preliminary rounds will compete in the finals for the Grand Prize which includes $500 and the chance to open for Confederate Railroad on September 6, 2009. The runner-up at the final show will receive $250. “The winners of each round will be judged by audience response. Win over the crowd, and you could find yourself performing for the Confederate Railroad audience,” offered Talley Green of Lake Winnepesaukah.
